Mosquitos are coming in a big way!

Native and invasive mosquito species populations have exploded as a result of California's significant rainfall during the Winter of 2022/2033. Already in 2024, this trend is continuing. Historically, California has experience local transmission of malaria, western equine encephalomyelitis (WEE), St. Louis encephalitis (SLE), California encephalitis viruses, canine heartworm, and West Nile virus (WNV). Los Angeles finished atop the list of cities buzzing with mosquitoes, according to Terminix data. All areas of Southern CA, including Ventura County, are highly susceptible.

Don't wait until it's too late. This is the time, before they explode, to get your home's windows and doors properly screened. Even the tiniest hole in screen will allow a mosquito access to you - and possibly pass on a terrible disease. Not to mention other nasty and pesky bugs such as spiders.

It's a good idea to have a mobile window screen company come out to give you an estimate. You can remove your old screens yourself and take them to a screen shop, but you take the chance of bending the frames or breaking the corners. For a little more money, simply have the experts remove, repair, and re-install your screens...it's cheaper in the end. You will want to call around to check pricing, because you will often find a large discrepancy in pricing - with usually the top-of-the-page advertiser costing the most - so call a couple places before making your decision. Also, make sure there are no hidden fees. Some will try to charge you for the little extras like spring clips and even pull tabs; these should be included at no additional charge.
